volunteering volunteer roles Volunteer roles Be a Move Mate Move Mates are primarily walking buddies although occasionally we have a request for runners too. Are you compassionate, a good communicator and empathetic to people from all walks of life? This could be for you! You will be paired with a person who needs help to get out and about. You will meet at their front door and accompany them wherever they want to go. This could be a one-off to get to an activity or event, or it could be a weekly walk. We will pair you with someone based on your availability. To do this role you will need to undertake a DBS check, provide a character reference and undertake some self-led training which includes adult safeguarding, mental health awareness and and some basic exercises to help with balance and coordination too. We ask volunteers to give a minimum three month commitment to be a Move Mate. Be a Volunteer Administrator Do you enjoy chatting on the phone? Our Volunteer Administrators make monitoring calls to people who use our Move Mates service to check if they're on track with their goals and to see how they're doing. Volunteer Administrators need to have great communication skills and be good listeners too. You could volunteer as an administrator and make big a difference with as little as 15 minutes a week! Be a Move Champion If you're a qualified fitness professional and looking to build your experience or you just want to do something awesome in your community, we need you! Move Champions lead free pop-up sessions at any one of our Move Zones (public spaces with outdoor fitness equipment installed). They motivate, inspire and educate people in their local community. We provide everything you need to be a Move Champion and mentor you to be the best you can be, you just need to commit to leading sessions and promoting them in your local area.
