Communications Officer

We’re looking for a dynamic and creative Communications Officer to join our organisation.

You’ll be tasked with increasing our reach by creating and scheduling great content to use across our website, in our print materials, through digital and printed newsletters and on social media, as well as writing and sending press releases about our projects and events.

 

You should expect a fast-paced environment where you will be expected to multi-task and manage your time well, on a daily basis.

 

The successful candidate will be well organised, responsive, have a high standard of written English and creative copy-writing skills. Most importantly, you will be someone who is passionate about volunteering and encouraging people to be physically active.

The Basics

 

Hours: 15 hours per week

 

Term: 6 months fixed-term contract

 

Salary: £20,500 – £22,000 dependent on experience

 

Based: Primarily home-based. You will need to be flexible to attend meetings and complete community-based tasks in York.

 

Your Responsibilities 

 

Creating and scheduling content suitable for different social media platforms; Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram and YouTube.

 

Interacting and responding to comments and questions across social media platforms.

 

Creating copy and content for blogs, press releases and newsletters.

 

Reviewing and updating website content using WordPress/Elementor.

 

Writing and distributing press releases to local, regional and national press, radio and TV to gain coverage on Move the Masses’ services.

 

Collating relevant content for different users through our newsletters.

 

Person Specification

Essential

 

Minimum age 18.

 

Proven experience creating and scheduling creative and fun content on a variety of social media platforms.

 

Excellent written communication skills. 

 

Fully computer literate.

 

Passionate about volunteering, physical activity, health and wellbeing.

 

Good understanding and willingness to learn about Move the Masses projects.

 

Desirable

 

Basic graphic design skills to create infographics.

 

Experience in editing photographic images and video content.

 

Experience of using WordPress.

 

Experience of using Mailchimp.

 

Specific experience in the charity sector.
