Delivering some Christmas spirit

Our amazing volunteers wrote and delivered Christmas cards to Move the Masses beneficiaries this weekend, giving Father Christmas and his elves a run for their money. So many of our volunteers jumped at the chance to get involved in this feel good, festive activity, making writing and delivering light work.

A team of 6 volunteers got together to write the cards, getting creative with ink stamps and enjoying a festive get together for a great cause. The cards were then hand delivered over Saturday and Monday, giving our volunteers a chance to get out in the fresh air and adding an extra personal touch to the cards’ delivery.

One of our volunteers, Barbara, said:

“The last couple of cards were very local to us so we delivered them on our daily walk around our village later that day, despite the rain. Lovely to be able to deliver some Christmas spirit!”

While delivering the cards was the main focus of the weekend, some of our volunteers also managed to have a chat with the beneficiaries they delivered to, like John. He said he

“had lovely doorstep chats with 3 beneficiaries all singing the praises of their Move Mate volunteers. It was so good to hear the widespread appreciation of what we do and how much it affects both their physical and mental wellbeing.”

We hope that these cards will brighten our beneficiaries’ day, making what can be a difficult time of year for many that little bit more festive.

The wonderful cards were designed for us by Catherine Fairless and printed free of charge by York Digital Image, so we would like to say a huge thank you to them both as well as our volunteer writers and deliverers!
