news Coronavirus update for Move the Masses Coronavirus Update: 16th March 2020 Move the Masses is monitoring the current government guidelines and WHO recommendations closely, regarding the outbreak of Coronavirus. This statement will be updated as and when the guidelines change. The latest guidelines published today advise on social distancing measures we should all be taking to reduce social interaction between people in order to reduce the transmission of coronavirus (COVID-19), the official publication can be found here. The whole purpose of Move the Masses is to improve wellbeing, and supporting public health is vital. It is with regret that we have decided to temporarily suspend all activity to support the current guidelines. Another core function of Move the Masses is reducing social isolation and loneliness, we understand that the social distancing guidelines will directly affect vulnerable people and those experiencing isolation and loneliness. During this period, we will be working with the City of York Council and utilising our volunteer workforce when possible to support the local community. All sessions, events and meet-ups are cancelled until further notice We will contact everybody who is signed up to any of our sessions or activities. We will however, be running virtual workouts via Facebook which people can follow along from the safety of their own homes. Our Move Mates service is temporarily suspended All volunteers and referral partners will be contacted by email and all service users will be contacted by email, phone or post. We will continue to notify everybody who engages with the Move Mates project as and when there is updated information.
