New Move Champion at Glen Gardens

We caught up with Kevern, our newest Move Champion. He's just completed his training with Move the Masses and will be leading free pop-up workouts at Glen Gardens in Heworth starting on 11th June.

Kevern told us he has always been active and likes to cycle, walk, run and play 5-a-side football - and he wants to share that passion with others.

Why did you become a Move Champion?
I became a Community Health Champion and heard about the opportunity whilst I completed the training. As I am really interested in fitness and have recently finished a personal training qualification, it seemed a great way to use my new skills to benefit the community. I want to use what I've learnt in a voluntary capacity.

What do you enjoy most about being involved with Move the Masses?
I've enjoyed attending some of the sessions myself, I really think this is the best way to exercise - out in the open air! By attending the sessions I've discovered new areas and I've enjoyed meeting other people who are local to me.

What would you say to someone who was thinking about coming to one of your sessions?
I would say come along because it's easy, it makes so much more sense than driving to the gym. You get to workout in a place that's local and meet people from your community. My aim is to help people enjoy exercise, if I can do that, I'll be really happy.
