news Move the Masses supports York's Volunteering Response to COVID-19 What is Move the Masses doing to support our community in York? This is an unprecedented time for our society and Move the Masses is committed to helping people stay active, healthy and maintain their physical, mental and emotional wellbeing. Whilst our usual work is temporarily suspended, we're working to ensure our volunteer workforce is robust and ready to support vulnerable and isolated people in York. The City of York Council and York CVS are working with trusted organisations in the city to coordinate volunteer efforts. It's vital that support is managed by organisations with effective safeguarding policies so that people who need help and support are looked after safely and are not left open to abuse. It's also vital that volunteers are managed with their own health and safety in mind, and that there are processes in place to ensure volunteers are not putting themselves or others at risk. Volunteer Recruitment We are actively recruiting new volunteers and will initially be assisting with tasks such as collecting and delivering medication. We may take on others tasks as the situation develops such as assisting with distribution of other resources or helping with high volumes of telephone calls from people who need assistance.
