Celebrating our first year with 2019 Move Mate Volunteer Awards Move Mates Christmas Meet-up For our last meet-up of 2019, we were hosted by the fantastic True Story Cafe who put on a delicious buffet for us, including the amazing invention of Christmas dinner kebabs! We ate a lot and talked a lot with the high point being the presentation of the Move Mate Awards. Further high points included meeting Ted the long haired chihuahua and Fern giving us a bell to ring to celebrate our Move Mate success stories! We reflected on the amazing impact our Move Mates have had. See the 2019 award winners below. Best Goal Achiever This award is for volunteers who have helped the people they walk with to meet or exceed their goals. Winner: Nicky DunningRunner up: David Clancy Most Dedicated Logger This award is for the writers amongst our volunteer ranks. These people give us brilliant detail in their walk logs including quotes and stories. Winner: Penny Gregg Runner up: Vicky Hearson Most Pairings These volunteers have walked with more than one beneficiary and keep coming back for more! Winner: Ann ScottRunner up: Nicky Dunning Best Use of Training This award has been presented to those who have taken learning from our monthly training session and put it to good use. John helped the person is walked with to access Age Friendly York information whilst Mary helped someone who approached her in the supermarket the day after her Dementia Friends training as they recognised the Dementia Friend pin badge! Winner: Mary Mayor Runner up: John Bourton Most Walks Completed Our final award goes to the volunteers who have logged the most walks in the year. Emily and Ann were both among our first volunteer intake and have been walking all year long. How amazing are they?!
